John & Mary Elliott

ELLIOTT John-&-Mary-Dec-2014-3

New Zealand

John and Mary left New Zealand in 1977 as part of a 12 member missionary team to Asia and spent four years ministering in the Philippines and Indonesia, in particular organizing and conducting leadership seminars throughout both nations, with special emphasis of spiritual renewal and leadership development. They then returned to NZ for four years where John was the associate pastor of a church in Wellington.

In 1985 John and Mary (& three young children) left NZ to join World Outreach International at its then head office in Hong Kong. John served as the Ministry Director, organizing and conducting leadership training programs throughout Asia and the Middle East. John’s inspirational teaching ministry with practical life application, is very much appreciated wherever he ministers. His great passion is to teach, train and equip leaders who in turn will raise up a younger generation of leaders. In 1988 the Elliott’s relocated to Singapore and continued with the same ministry focus taking John to even more nations.

In 1995 John was appointed the International Director of World Outreach International with the head office moving from Hong Kong to Singapore, where it is to this day. In following the Lord’s leading in their lives, John stepped down as International Director at the end of 2016. In January 2017 John took up the appointment of World Outreach President Emeritus.

As President Emeritus, John…

  • Serves in an ambassadorial role on behalf of World Outreach, in particular representing the Mission’s ‘least reached people’ group vision.
  • Is involved in helping mobilize more churches and individuals to become engaged in effective cross cultural ministries.
  • Engages with potential partners who will help resource World Outreach projects and programs in different developing nations
  • Speaks at international conferences, church mission conventions and local churches

John and Mary have three married adult children and six grandchildren.  Two of their sons and their respective spouses are serving with World Outreach International.
