Aashray Girls Home

Aashray Girls is a home for unwanted and at-risk children. Aashray is home to 25 girls ranging from age 4 to 14 years. Either one or both parents of these girls have died, or the girls are from destitute or extended families who are unable to provide and care for them. These girls are at a high risk of abuse. The girls normally stay to age 18 by which time they will have either entered higher education, trades or married.

When the girls leave school we aim to assist them to obtain scholarships (around 5000 rupees US$120) for higher education.

Their aspirations once they leave school include employment in:

  • Medical (i.e. nursing, Doctors, physiotherapy)
  • Teaching
  • Engineering fields
  • Vocational training such as tailoring is also available with some of the older girls also learn to sew at the home
