Raising Up Young Leaders
Last October, we ran a three-day conference for 120 young leaders, ranging in age from 18 to 30. They came from different churches and different denominations. The theme of the conference was taken from 1 Timothy 4:12, ‘Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young.’
As a young biblical leader, Timothy was a great example for these young leaders at the beginning of their ministry. Though Timothy was relatively young, Paul encouraged him to face the problems that would come, not only from outside, but also from inside, such as false teachers. Timothy was urged to teach the truth, to exercise his spiritual gifts, to not compare his gifts with others and to recognise that everyone has their own role in the kingdom of God.
The young people were really encouraged and touched by these studies. They learned how to always put their eyes on Jesus Christ and continue their race.
