Board Games Ministries
Since the start of this year, we are seeing a greater interest from other ministries wanting to replicate our board games cafe ministry model. In May this year, we went up to Khon Kaen and Maha Sarakham (both provinces in Isaan, Northeast Thailand) to train two teams, who are interested in setting up board games ministries in their areas. In June, we helped set up and launch a cafe for the Mae La refugee camp’s Bible school along the Thai-Myanmar border. This is exciting as we see the potential of this model to provide financial sustainability and natural connections with the community. At BORED? Cafe in Korat, we are getting a steady stream of regulars, who hang out at the cafe almost every day. Our team has been able to establish good relationship with these university students, and as a result, many spiritual conversations have taken place. We are open to helping other ministries find ways to connect with their communities through businesses and to empower local believers with financial income so that they can continue to do the work of the Lord.
Kevin and Jeh Sie Chan relocated to Malaysia in May 2017. Jeh Sie is serving as PA to the Field Ministries Director and is also the Field Administrator for the senior field leadership team of WO.
From July 2011- Jan 2017, Kevin and Jeh Sie ran a Kingdom Enterprise among the Isaan Least-Reached People group (22 million, 0.1% Christian). They ran Global Connections Language Centre on the northern edge of the city for the first three years, and at the end of 2014, they moved to the other side of Korat city to start BORED? Board Games Café to reach university students. BORED? is now run by a local team and continues to reach out to Thai young people in Korat
