Alpha Mission Teams – is it for me?

Alpha Mission Teams ...the first with the Good News

How can I know that I’m a good fit for an Alpha Missions Team?

  • You must love Jesus and trust Him. Be able to hear His voice, and be eager to obey Him.
  • Must love and respect people, even if they are unlovable.
  • Must have a solid relationship with God, and a good prayer life.
  • If you are married, your relationship must be stable, and both of you must be in agreement about your involvement in missions.
  • You must adhere to our Statement of Faith.
  • Have a clear calling to missions.
  • You must be physically, emotionally, and spiritually in good health.
  • Must be slow to judge and quick to forgive, and not be argumentative.
  • You must be willing and eager to learn, be flexible, and prepared to embrace new experiences.
  • You must be prepared to persevere – with joy, even in the face of setbacks.
  • Must be totally committed to stick it out for the entire duration of the two years. Don’t let your team mates down.
  • You will probably be at least 25 years old; but could possibly be a very mature 21+ age.
  • Have a high EQ (Google “High EQ”).
  • You must be ready to see God doing miracles – including providing your financial support.
  • God usually works this out through a substantial group of friends who are willing and committed to support you financially and in prayer.  Preferably these Ministry Partners will be from a local church or cell group with whom you have a long-standing relationship.  See discussion on fund-raising later on.
  • You must be prepared proactively to go out looking for Ministry Partners for this, and trust God for the results. This will be your first faith challenge on your journey into missions! More detail on this later.
  • In some places a degree may be required in order to get an entry visa for the country.
  • It would be an advantage if you can ride a motorcycle.
