Inside Out by Bruce Hills
In his latest book Inside Out, our International Director, Bruce Hills, examines the topic of self-leadership. Bruce defines self-leadership as ‘the intentional practice of disciplining, regulating and developing our lives and leadership, so th
at we can effectively lead ourselves and others to fulfill God’s ultimate purposes of maturity and mission.’ He goes on to argue that, in a ministry context, spiritual leaders don’t lead from the top down (hierarchical), but from the inside out (incarnational). In other words, the primary way a ministry leader leads and influences people is not only by their words, decisions, directives or position, but the authenticity and example of their lives.
Inside Out is a thoroughly biblical and immensely practical guide to the journey of self-leadership. Jim Wallace, retired Brigadier and former commander of the Australian SAS, wrote, ‘Bruce describes a Biblically centred approach that not only offers Christians the chance to develop effective and resilient leadership, but one by which the art of leadership itself can be redeemed. I strongly recommend it.’
